This is a virtual network for rapid preliminary diagnosis of banana diseases by visual inspection of symptomatic plants submitted as \u2018digital images\u2019 using the \u2018Crop Disease Surveillance\u2019 (CDS) program. Users can submit images and information using anyinternet enabled device such as smartphone, touch pad, laptop, desktop computer and other. This programs also supports follow-up inspections and laboratory testing of suspect samples for accurate diagnosis and offer solutions for prevention and management.<\/p>\n
Ultimate aims of the program are to protect crops from destructive diseases by early diagnosis and control interventions to safeguard and improve cassava yields in the farmers\u2019 fields; and rapidly identify invasive pathogens (e.g. banana bunchy top) and prevent them from establishing in new geographic regions.<\/p>\n
